I wanted to write down the main areas I am focusing on with this journey to save 10,000 dogs a month.
I suppose this would form part of a mission statement. Somebody smart and talented could probably distil it down into a single paragraph but for now I just have my 7 areas I am focusing on and that I wanted to share with you…
1. To Only Ever Do Things That Help Dogs
Every single decision I take on a daily basis is about how I can help more dogs. As this grows that will be distilled into everything. Every single cent or minute of time will be used to help dogs. Nothing else.
This is Ryan Gosling above. You’ll love his story.
2. To Decrease the Amount Of Dogs In The World
Seems strange from somebody who loves dogs but we need less dogs in the world. Dogs don’t do well in the wild. Shelters around the world are full of dogs. Through sterilising, population control and eduction I aim to decrease the amount of dogs in the world.
3. To Improve The Quality Of Life Of Dogs
I feel like humans are responsible for so much suffering that dogs endure. They evolved as our pets yet many of us mistreat them or leave them to fend for themselves. Through food, medicine, care, rehoming and other tools I want to improve the lives of as many dogs as possible.
4. To Inspire Others To Take Action
Hopefully the content I share has touched people in a positive way. If I can continue to do that and scale it up further I genuinely believe it can encourage other people to take positive action towards dogs in 100s of different ways.
5. To Do This For The Rest Of My Life
I don’t need shiny things, a big house, a nice car or anything like that. I’m 42 now and I’ll do this until the day I die. It’s a vocation.
6. To Think At Massive Scale
What I am doing at the moment is effectively helping dogs in one small town. There are 8 million stray dogs in Thailand and 33 million in India alone. 100s of millions around the world. I’m determined to think at serious scale when tackling this problem.
7. To Look After Myself
I’ve made no secret of the fact I used to suffer from addiction, panic attacks and depression. I ended up in ICU in hospital as a result. I’m no good to the dogs if that happens again so my promise to everybody following along, to myself and to the dogs is not to go down that path ever again.
I’ll get this distilled down into a simple mission statement but I like to just share my thoughts for the week out loud in this email (typos, grammar mistakes etc included!).
As I always say I can’t believe anybody beyond my family and friends would even bother to read this never mind get involved, help and cheer me along. I truly feel blessed and humbled by the support.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody and be kind to each other and to any dogs you meet!
Niall
P.S You can help the general mission by either donating here or subscribing to this newsletter. The support helps me do things like get medicines and treatment for the 25 puppies on the go at the moment in various spots like this guy…
We are all here behind you! Thank you for what you are doing for the doggies of Thailand ❤️🐕
Hey I have only just started following you I am owner to a rescue dog from Iran now based in Dubai. To be honest I never considered the plight of stray dogs until I came to the U.A.E where there is an abundance of them. Adoption agencies are starting to pop up everywhere with overcrowding due to unwanted ‘Covid quarantine’ dogs an issue. What you’re doing is commendable and extremely worthwhile, I chose to adopt Rua as apposed to buying from a breeder as I felt every dog deserves a happy home.
Good luck 🍀 with your vocation
